Two-day Workshop on HEAT TRANSFER AND HEAT INTEGRATION

Under the auspices of Technology & Energy Expert Committee, ICC is organizing Two-day Workshop on "HEAT TRANSFER AND HEAT INTEGRATION" on 21-22 February 2014. The venue of the Workshop is the Terrace Hall, West End Hotel, 45 New Marine Lines, Near Bombay Hospital, Mumbai - 400 020.

Mr. Rajan Desai - HTRI's 'International Co-coordinator, India' - has kindly agreed to deliver Inaugural Address on First day of the Workshop. HTRI (Heat Transfer Research, Inc.) is a unique industrial research and development consortium, founded in 1962 and stationed at Texas-USA, which serves the thermal process engineering needs of more than 1,400 corporate member sites world-wide.

Prof. Uday Shenoy has also agreed to deliver Key Note Address on the Second day. He will speak on "Heat Integration to Sustainable Process Design". Prof. Shenoy is B.Tech in Chemical Engg from IIT Bombay and Ph.D. in Chemical Engg. from Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh. His research areas are Energy Optimization, Process Integration, Heat and Mass Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, Polymer Engineering, Modeling & Simulation and Computer Applications.

OBJECTIVE:

Chemical / process industry has been a large consumer of energy in various forms. It is important that the basic concepts as well as the advanced techniques of high order are adopted in order to reduce capital as well as operating cost of the energy systems particularly heat energy.

The costs of operations are greatly impacted by the cost /quantity of energy inputs. Hence, the minimum possible energy requirement, in other words, maximum possible reduction in the usage of energy is the greatest endeavor that serves the sole objective of improving profitability and competitiveness. This involves using knowledge and experience in heat exchange design techniques that enable efficient Heat Integration.

Pinch Technique is popular for process and energy network integration / synthesis. It is considered vital for petroleum refining, gas processing, petrochemical, bulk chemicals, speciality chemicals, pharmaceutical, cement and pulp & paper and infact any industry that involves use and rejection of heat energy. Hence this workshop is organized.

FACULTY:

Experts from industry and academia will participate and take sessions. Mr. Arvind Kaushik, Sr. Dy. General Manager, Larsen & Toubro Limited will conduct sessions on "Heat Transfer Basics", "Status and Prospects of Heat Integration" and "Introduction to Pinch Technique/ Analysis". Dr. (Mrs.) Janaki Patwardhan who is a consultant will make presentation on "Heat Exchanger Process Design". Mr. M. Venkatesh, Larsen & Toubro Limited will make presentation on "Advances in Heat Exchangers" and Mr. Nageswara Rao C., Manager - Research & Development, Larsen & Toubro Limited will make presentation on "Troubleshooting and Case Studies". Mr. O. P. Goyal, Member, Technology & Energy Expert Committee, ICC will conduct session on "Network Design Using Pinch Technique". All the speakers are well experienced in the areas and their presentations will be of immense benefit to the delegates. Detailed program is enclosed.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
Chemical / process engineers and production / plant engineers and managers engaged in design, operation and operation-support activities would benefit tremendously from this Workshop as it offers the comprehensive condensed theory and hands-on interactive learning.

Participants are requested to bring scientific calculator: "Casio 991ES/991MS)".

REGISTRATION FEES:

To defray the expenses, the registration charges will be Rs.5,618/- per delegate (including 12.36% Service Tax).

SPONSORSHIP

We request members to consider sponsoring the Workshop by being Gold or Silver Sponsor:

Gold Sponsor : Rs. 2,00,000/-
Silver Sponsor : Rs.1,00,000/-

ICC will acknowledge the sponsorship support by displaying an appropriate banner at the venue of the Workshop and will also allow 3 complimentary registrations to each Gold Sponsor and 2 complimentary registrations to Silver Sponsor.

On this occasion, ICC intends to bring out a Souvenir which will contain papers to be presented at the Workshop by the speakers. The souvenir will be extremely useful not only to delegates who are attending but also to those who may not be in a position to attend the Workshop due to prior commitments. We also solicit advertisement support in the Souvenir for which the tariffs are:

Back Cover Rs.25,000/-
Inside Front Cover Rs.15,000/-
Inside Back Cover Rs.15,000/-
Colour Full Page - Inside Rs.10,000/-

Please confirm requirement as per the format enclosed and send it along with the advertisement material (soft copy) to the ICC-MumbaiOffice to reach on or before Tuesday, 18 February 2014.

We request all members to attend this important Workshop and take advantage of the same. Please Register with details like NAME, DESIGNATION, COMPANY NAME/ADDRESS, TEL/FAX/EMAIL with ICC-Mumbai Office before Thursday, 20 February 2014. Kindly draw the Cheque in favour of "Indian Chemical Council".
