Two-Day Refresher Course on CHEMICAL INDUSTRY FLUID FLOW THEORY AND PRACTICE

INTRODUCTION

Under the auspices of the Technology & Energy Expert Committee, ICC is organizing a Two-day Refresher Course on "Chemical Industry Fluid Flow Theory and Practice" on 25-26 April 2014. The venue of the program is Presidential North, HOTEL VIVANTA BY TAJ PRESIDENT, 90 Cuffe Parade, Mumbai - 400 005.

The program will be coordinated by Mr. O. P. Goyal, Member - Technology & Energy Expert Committee. Dr. D. D. Kale, Former Professor of Polymer Technology & HoD of Plastics & Paints Dept., ICT, Mumbai, will be the Chief Faculty. His lectures will be complemented by Dr. Ashwin W. Patwardhan, Associate Professor, Chemical Engineering Department, Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai and Mr. O. P. Goyal.

OBJECTIVE

It is hard to imagine any chemical industry operations that does not handle or deal with any fluids. If there are fluids, they do flow or they are made to flow, may they be liquids, gases, vapors, suspensions, slurries, pastes or polymer melts. The science of fluid flow and engineering of its systems are very fundamental to the design and operation of various processes applied to chemical industries. They exhibit interesting and in some situations even intricate behaviour. The intent of this refresher course is to impart expert knowledge, share experiences and give hands-on practice of various aspects related to fluid flow to the concerned industry personnel.

The program is so designed as to facilitate an effective knowledge based interactive learning of practical significance. The program covers fundamentals of Fluid Flow, various aspects related to Non-compressible as well as Compressible Fluids, Complex (non-Newtonian) Fluids, Two- Phase Flow, Special situations and their Operational Impact, Process Design of Piping and

Power Calculations highlighting importance of affinity laws of rotating equipment.

An exciting interactive quiz will enable participants to capture many technical aspects in a creative manner and offer an opportunity to learn as to how important it is to ensure technical accuracy in technical statements.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Chemical/ process engineers, and production & plant engineers and managers engaged in design, operation and operation-support activities would benefit from this course as it offers the comprehensive condensed theory with latest plant practices so that the participants can not only augment their knowledge base but also benefit from interactive sessions.

Delegates will be presented "Certificate of Participation" at the end of the Refresher Course.

REGISTRATION FEES

To defray the expenses, the registration charges will be Rs.8,427/- per delegate (inclusive of 12.36% Service Tax).

Participants are requested to bring scientific calculator: recommended "Casio fx 991ES with Calc, Solve and Integration Keys"
