Refresher Course on "CHEMICAL ENGINEERING FOR PLANT PERSONNEL"

We are happy to inform you that under the auspices of the Technology & Energy Expert Committee, ICC is organizing Refresher Course on "CHEMICAL ENGINEERING FOR PLANT PERSONNEL" on Thursday, 25 and Friday, 26 November 2021 Virtually from 01.30 p.m. to 05.30 p.m. (on both days). The program will be coordinated from Mumbai Office of ICC.

OBJECTIVE:

Chemical/ process plant design and operation are based on well-established fundamentals and practices laid down in chemical engineering professional books, magazines and other published literature. Those who have taken formal education in chemical engineering need refresher training as theory and practice are mutually supportive. And, those personnel who are engaged in the conduct of chemical plant operations need to link and relate their operating experience with theory to have better work understanding and guiding their effort in upgrading overall.

WHY A REFRESHER COURSE?

Attending refresher courses is a part of continuing education and helps update / upgrade plant knowledge and operating skills. Whereas theory and practice have their stand-alone identity, one is inadequate without the other. This is because both are complimentary, supportive and reinforcing to each other. They both are essential to achieve chemical industry objectives and solve problems, whether related to processes, equipment or materials.

PROGRAM:

Detailed program is enclosed herewith. The subjects namely Chemical Engineering Basics and Calculations, Fluid Flow Basics and Practical Examples; Practical Process Heat Transfer, Chemical Reaction Engineering and Distillation will be covered by Mr. O. P. Goyal, Member, Technology & Energy Expert Committee-ICC, Mr. K. Sahasranaman, Member, Technology & Energy Expert Committee-ICC, Prof. Parag R. Gogate, Chemical Engineering Department, Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, Prof. Prakash Vaidya, Chemical Engineering Department, Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, Dr. Sujit Jogwar, Associate Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Bombay and Mr. Arvind Kaushik, Consultant   (Brief Profiles enclosed) to give the participants an interactive, integrated and condensed refresher training. There will be engaging program-related quizzes.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

Chemical / process plant personnel including chemical engineers engaged in operation, operation-support activities such as process analysis and troubleshooting; and those personnel having qualification other than chemical engineering but are engaged in chemical plant operation will benefit from this course. Those who have lost touch with chemical engineering theory but would like to regain such knowledge/ skill can take advantage of this opportunity. Course is recommended also for senior Managers and executives.
