INDIAN CHEMICAL COUNCIL is organizing a One-day Seminar on "BIOFUELS - GROWTH & CHALLENGES" on Friday, 14 March 2008. The venue of the course is Concord I & II, HOTEL RAMADA PLAZA PALMGROVE, Juhu Beach, Mumbai.

INTRODUCTION:

The global warming issue and ever increasing prices of crude oil have forced the industry to look for alternate source of fuels such as bio-fuels. India is blessed with natural resources and land. There is a good scope for launching in "Energy farming" business. Bio-fuels being renewable fuels, there are many advantages associated with them such as less pollution from vehicles, partly CO2 neutral etc. The main advantage of them is that they can be used in the existing private and mass transport systems without change of engines if blended with petrol or diesel. All over the country, efforts are now directed towards utilization of bio-fuels as mission project. However, there are grey areas such as availability of feed stocks, by-product utilization, technologies available, how to improve project economics and so on.

FACULTY:

Experts from academia CSIR Labs and industry will be sharing their perception of Bio-fuels by presenting paper in the Seminar. Focus attention will be on two bio-fuels namely ethanol and bio-diesel.
