Two-day Refresher Course on "HEAT TRANSFER AND HEAT INTEGRATION"

INDIAN CHEMICAL COUNCIL (ICC), under the auspices of its Technology & Energy Expert Committee, is organizing Two-day Refresher Course on "HEAT TRANSFER AND HEAT INTEGRATION" on 8-9 October 2015 at Gulmohar Hall, HOTEL FORTUNE PARK GALAXY, N.H. No. 8, G.I.D.C., Vapi - 396 195, Gujarat (Tel: +91 260 3988444.

OBJECTIVE:

Chemical / process industry has been a large consumer of energy in various forms. It is important that the basic concepts as well as the advanced techniques of high order are adopted in order to reduce capital as well as operating cost of the energy systems particularly heat energy.

The costs of operations are greatly impacted by the cost /quantity of energy inputs. Hence, the minimum possible energy requirement, in other words, maximum possible reduction in the usage of energy is the greatest endeavor that serves the sole objective of improving profitability and competitiveness. This involves using knowledge and experience in heat exchange design techniques that enable right selection, accurate design and viable installation of heat exchangers. Inevitably then, further efficiency is realized by effective Heat Integration. One of the very much talked about technique of heat integration is pinch technique.

Pinch Technique is popular for target setting and initial process/ energy network synthesis.  It is considered vital for petroleum refining, gas processing, petrochemical, bulk chemicals, specialty chemicals, pharmaceutical, cement and pulp & paper and in fact any industry that involves use and rejection of heat energy.  Hence this Refresher Course is organized.

FACULTY:

Experts having vast industrial experience will participate and take sessions. Mr. Arvind Kaushik, L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering will conduct sessions on "Heat Transfer Basics", "Status and Prospects of Heat Integration" and "Introduction to Pinch Technique/ Analysis". Mr. M. Venkatesh, Larsen & Toubro Ltd will present "Advances in Heat Exchangers" and Mr. Nageswara Rao, Thermal Engineering Group, L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering Ltd will make a presentation on "Troubleshooting and Case Studies". Mr. O. P. Goyal, Member, Technology & Energy Expert Committee of ICC, having vast experience in design engineering and operations management will conduct session on "Practical Aspects of Heat Exchanger Design and Operation" and "Network Design Using Pinch Technique"; and will conduct the interactive quizzes.  All the speakers are highly experienced in the program subjects; and the lessons will be of immense benefit to the delegates.  Detailed program is given hereunder.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND :

Chemical / process engineers and production / plant engineers and managers engaged in design, operation and operation-support activities would benefit tremendously from this Workshop as it offers the comprehensive condensed theory and hands-on interactive learning.

Delegates will be presented "CERTIFICATE OF PARTICIPATION" at the end of the Refresher Course.

REGISTRATION FEES:

To defray the expenses, the registration fees will be as follows:

  • ICC Members: Rs. 5,700/- per delegate(including 14% Service Tax).
  • Non-Members:  Rs.6,840/- per delegate (including 14% Service Tax).

Participants are requested to bring scientific calculator: "Casio 991ES/991MS)".

SPONSORSHIP

We request members to consider sponsoring the Refresher Course by being Gold or Silver Sponsor:

Gold Sponsor : Rs. 2,00,000/-
Silver Sponsor : Rs.1,00,000/-

ICC will acknowledge the sponsorship support by displaying an appropriate banner at the venue of the Refresher Course and will also allow 3 complimentary registrations to each Gold Sponsor and 2 complimentary registrations to Silver Sponsor.
