Officials from water treatment plants of all major PHEDs in Madhya Pradesh participated in this grand event. The teams from PHED Mandaleshwar, Ujjain, Bhopal, Gwalior, Ratlam and Indore wholeheartedly shared their experience on the chlorination of water at their respective plants and also the importance of Chlorine and its usage for safe water for a healthy population. Speaking at the program, ABG Chlor-Alkali Business CMO Shri Ajay Kumar Todi highlighted the necessity and effectiveness of Chlorination during water treatment. Mr. Todi explained the important role played by PHEDs in providing safe water using chlorine and stressed that disinfection by chlorine plays in safeguarding public health against the water borne diseases. Mr. Todi also explained about the 3 modes in which chlorine can be used for water treatment viz. Chlorine, Calcium Hypochlorite and Sodium Hypochlorite. Information regarding the different uses of chlorine in the day to day life of human being was also shared with the delegates. Program was attended well by the Engineers and Chemists of the various PHEDs. While greatly appreciating this initiative by the Aditya Birla Group, the delegates also requested for more such awareness programs in future which would enable better information on chlorine safety and the need for water chlorination in the smallest towns and villages in India.
