Annual General Meeting:

The 68th Annual General Meeting of ICC was held on 26 September 2008 at Mumbai. The meeting approved Annual Report of the Executive Committee and Statement of Accounts for the year ended 31 March 2008. The Executive Committee for the year 2008-2009 was reconstituted. At the AGM, admission of 7 Ordinary members and 13 Associate members were ratified. The list of Executive Committee members is given in Annexure.

ICC Awards Presentation Function:

The ICC Awards / Certificates of Merit for the year 2007 were presented to the winners at a function organized in Mumbai on 26 September 2008. Mr. S. C. Jamir, His Excellency, the Governor of Maharashtra was the Chief Guest at the function which was attended by a galaxy of industrialists and captains of chemical industry, academia and others.
12 Awards and 9 Certificates of Merit for excellence in different categories were given away at the hands of Mr. Jamir to the following winners:

I.C.C. D. M. Trivedi Lifetime Achievement Award for Contribution to Indian Chemical Industry :

Earlier ICC used to present "I.C.C. D.M. Trivedi Award for Introducing Advancement in Technology Having A Widespread Impact on Chemical Industry". The rules governing this Award were modified and it has been decided to present the Award by inviting nominations from two experts i.e. one from industry and another from academia for their contribution for the industry. The title of the Award has also been changed to "I.C.C. D. M. Trivedi Lifetime Achievement Award for Contribution to Indian Chemical Industry" and the Award was conferred on:

Thirty-second Rajmitra B. D. Amin Memorial Lecture :

Rajmitra B. D. Amin Memorial Lecture was delivered by Dr. K. V. Raghavan, Chairman - RAC, Defence Research & Development Organization, Ministry of Defence, Government of India on 26 September 2008 at Mumbai. The theme of Dr. Raghavan's Lecture was "Indian Chemical Industry - Globalization and Sustainability Issues". Dr. Raghavan highlighted globalization issues pertaining to knowledge intensives, R&D and innovation culture and sustainability issues related to environment, high tech absorption and Indian resources.

Thirty-Third Rajmitra B. D. Amin Memorial Lecture :

Rajmitra B. D. Amin Memorial Lecture was delivered on 29 January 2009 at Vadodara by Padmashri Dr. S. Sivaram, Director, National Chemical Laboratory, Pune. He spoke on "Sinews of Excellence : The Evolution of a Scientific Institution".

Mr. Rajiv Topno, IAS, Managing Director, iNDEXTb & Jt. CEO - Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority, Govt. of Gujarat also made presentation on "Gujarat - An Exciting Way Ahead". Mr. Scott Berger, Executive Director, Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) made presentation regarding CCPS and its interest in working closely with ICC in India.

Sixteenth Acharya P. C. Ray Memorial Lecture

Acharya P. C. Ray Memorial Lecture was delivered by Dr. Sujit Bhattacharya, Additional Director General, Indian Council of Medical Research on 22 September 2008 at Kolkata. He spoke on Government Policy for elimination of Kala Azar from India. Kala Azar is potentially a fatal parasitic disease and affects nearly 350 million around the world and 90% victims are from Indian subcontinent.
North Bihar accounts for 60% of the cases reported in the country. Dr. Bhattacharya said that there is a need to promote indigenous research for alternative vaccines and medication.
